Back in August, Nicola from Liv York along with cycling pals Rach, Tori, Charlotte and Amy joined 60 other female riders at the 'Ride for Marianne'. This is an annual sportive, now in its 5th year, in memory of Marianne Kerr; a true Yorkshire girl and keen cyclist who lost her battle with cancer in August 2019. This year the event raised over £4000 for Women vs Cancer and Breast Cancer Now.

Here's Nicola's ride round up...

"What a day out in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds! This event is super inclusive, with 3 distances to choose from and 'Ride Angels' supporting along the way. We opted for the 64mile route, which combined quiet lanes, breath-taking views and equally breath-taking climbs including the tasty Leavening Bank followed by our ride highlight, the descent into Thixendale.

There has to be a special mention to the feed station at Settrington! This 'Yorkshire Spread' was a huge selection of incredible homemade cakes donated by the Pock and Barmby Belles, perfect for fueling the rest of ride.

It felt really special to be part of this very personal, legacy event. Thank you, Val!"

This unique legacy ride is organised by women's cycling advocate, the formidable Val French, and is supported by volunteers from Val's cycling group; The Pock and Barmby Belles. Ride for Marianne' brings together the cycling community in Pocklington and beyond and attracts support from local sponsors; Pocklington Lions, Pocklington Rugby in the Community and R-Evolution.
